According to the dispatch, several fire departments responded to a fire in block 300 on North Chestnut Street after a call came in after 3:30 am on Wednesday.
“I don’t hear much of this turmoil. Like 3 o’clock in the morning, I hear all the turmoil. Here it’s not normal, so I start wondering what’s going on.” Neighbor Michael said.
He lived two blocks away and watched a fiery flame hit his house.
“I could see the actual fire from the apartment, but when I actually got here, everything was smoke,” he said.
A firefighter sprained his ankle and was taken to the hospital, where he will be released shortly.
Children at home range in age from 6 to 19 years.
“We rescued one dog, but we lost one dog and a few other small animals. The whole family is fine,” said John Patrick, assistant chief of the Delhi Fire Department. Said.
The fire seems to have started and spread from the back of the house. According to the fire chief, the fire is due to an electrical problem in the kitchen.
Two cars on the driveway were severely damaged by the flames, and the house next door was damaged by the lookout as a result of the fire.
Authorities are uncertain whether families will be able to live in their homes again.
