Laurinburg, NC (WBTW) —A man was arrested after a gunfight in Laurinburg on Monday night, putting them in danger.
At around 6 pm, police in Laurinburg said they shot a person at 15331 Cooper Street, police said. Police found Kysheen Armstrong, 29, in Whiteville, North Carolina, in a gunshot wound. Armstrong was taken to a local hospital in crisis.
Police found Antonio Devon Smith, 35, of Whiteville, unharmed on the scene. Smith told police that he and Armstrong had been robbed by a group of men in a black SUV, officials said. Smith said the man hit Armstrong and began shooting them while Smith fled on foot.
According to police, the man stole Smith’s 2015 Kia Soul before leaving.
While on the scene, the officer received a call about the victim of a second bullet at Maxton. The victim, 38-year-old Shamalio Bethea, was taken to a local hospital and was in crisis.
Police took a black SUV on the scene. According to police, SUVs belong to Bethea.
Police said further investigation revealed that Smith had engaged in a shootout with a man in an SUV. Smith was charged with releasing weapons into the occupied territories and releasing guns within the city limits.
Smith was put in Scottish County Detention Center under a $ 15,000.00 secured bond.
