Fresno, California 2021-12-03 15:36:48 –

Kerman, Calif. (KFSN)-Highway Patrol, Calif., Says that foggy conditions led to a fatal collision near Kerman on Friday morning.

It happened around 7:30 am on Highway 145 between Jensen and North Avenue.

Officers say a large rig was being pulled from the driveway to the highway 145. At the same time, the driver of the minivan heading south on the freeway could not stop and collided with the side of the truck.

The driver in the van died on the scene. The other three passengers were taken to Fresno’s Community Community Medical Center. CHP said their injuries ranged from moderate to severe.

Investigators said visibility in the area at the time of the crash was between 50 and 100 feet. They believe that the driver of the minivan was moving at high speed.

“Slow down and turn on the low beam lights. Be especially careful. The last thing you want to do is get involved in a tragic event like this morning,” said CHP Officer Mike Saras.

The crash is still under investigation.
