Laurens County, South Carolina (WSPA) — Eleven cats, eight dogs, four snakes, and one bearded dragon were found “deplorable” and removed from their home in Lawrence County on May 25.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said the Animal Care Department had responded to the Carriage Farm Court home after receiving reports of malnourished dogs there. The sheriff’s office claimed to have found seven dogs on the premises with no water visible at the time, but hoped they contained a small amount of green and insects.
In a post on the Facebook page, the sheriff’s office said it had found “disastrous conditions, including feces in various rooms on the floor, sunken floors, cockroach epidemics, and a strong foul odor.”
All animals found on the premises have been removed from the house. The Clinton Veterinary Hospital assisted animal management staff in vaccination and evaluation of each animal. According to the sheriff’s office, each animal received flea / tick treatment, deworming, and kennel cleaning.
A total of eight people were arrested and charged in connection with the case.
