A 15-year-old woman, whose parents said she had no underlying medical condition, died just days after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
They got a positive test result on Sunday.
“I asked me why this happened to her and what she did to deserve it,” said her mother, Crystal Morgan. “I said to her,” You didn’t do anything to deserve this. I don’t know why this happened to you, but you did nothing to deserve this. “
By Monday night, Crystal said it was clear that her daughter needed a doctor. At a local hospital, doctors told his family that Dikota’s previously healthy 15-year-old body soon began to weaken.
“Around midnight, I have to take a helicopter to Lurie Children’s Hospital because she’s not ready to handle the level of care she needs,” Crystal recalled.
However, the teens did not reach the hospital.
“They went in and said goodbye until she arrived at Lully’s hospital and told her that we love her,” she said. “I thought goodbye until I went to the hospital. I didn’t think goodbye forever.”
“‘If you’re tired, baby girl, just go home. If you’re tired, go,'” her father, Rashad Bingham, recalls telling her. “Soon after that, it was all over.”
Dikota’s parents, her family, and her beloved basketball team would never be the same without her.
Basketball coach Sae Yamamoto Wagner said, “Everyone is delighted to get back to some normal state, but this week I want to remember the rest of my life and prevent this from happening to anyone. “.
Her parents said the family had taken all possible COVID-19 prophylaxis and encouraged other parents to vaccinate their children as soon as possible.
