Police said a 19-year-old boy was injured in accidental or unintentional shooting in Warburn, Massachusetts, Saturday afternoon.
According to the Warburn Police Department, the injured man is expected to survive a neck injury, and a neighbor on Mount Pleasant Street told NBC10 Boston.
According to law enforcement sources, the teenager was taken to the Lehei Hospital & Medical Center, where he was undergoing surgery.
Police said in a news release that there was no public danger after the incident.
It’s not immediately clear what happened in the shooting. Police said the teenager was taken to the hospital by someone who knew he had a gunshot wound on his neck. Hospital staff reported to police and it was determined that the shooting took place in Warburn.
Preliminary signs have found that the shooting may have been accidental or unintentional, but investigations are still underway, police said. No one was arrested or charged, and the gun was recovered.
