A man and a woman were killed and four others were injured early Tuesday after two cars crashed into the Suitland Parkway as parts of the area reported frozen road conditions.

According to the park police, police responded to a crash near the Silver Hill area at around 12:40 am.

The man and woman were declared dead on the scene. According to police, the other four are expected to be rushed to the hospital and survive.

Police do not disclose any other information about the victim’s age and identity. Maryland officials have warned of slippery conditions in the area, but the situation of the crash is still under investigation.

According to police, all lanes on Suitland Parkway were closed in both directions between Naylor Road and Silver Hill Road. If you are in the area, follow the police instructions.

The fatal crash was one of several reported in the DC area on Tuesday morning in cold temperatures and potential freezing points on the road. Other crashes were reported at spots in Majestic Lane, including the US50. Old Fort Road South / Potomac Village Southbound MD-210 and SBI-395 slope towards the inner loop.
