KOIN, Oregon — Albany police said two children were sexually assaulted by a man who broke into Albany’s house early Monday.

After 4 am, the child’s stepmother returned to her 3200-block home on Southeast Jackson Street and noticed that the front door was open. The police said the other parent was sleeping, and the woman heard the sound coming from the girl’s bedroom.

When she checked, she found a man sexually assaulting both children in the room, a girl under the age of 10 said police. The man “pushed her away” and ran out of the house.

The suspect is described as being Caucasian in his late twenties and early thirties, about five feet seven with short blonde hair. He wore a blue shirt and black trousers that resembled sweatpants.

The stepmother was unaware of the man, police said.

The girls were taken to the Samaritan Albany General Hospital, the Children’s Advocacy Center, and the ABC House for examination.

The investigation is active and ongoing. If you have any information, please call the Albany Police Station (541.917.7686).
