Officials said the two were taken to the hospital early Thursday, January 14, when their SUV collided with an Anaheim fire engine, flashing lights and sirens and calling.
The SUV on which the man was riding caused great damage to the front while the fire engine hit the left side.
Anaheim police and fire department spokesman Shane Caringer said no firefighters were taken to the hospital for treatment, but they were in pain.
According to firefighters at the scene, the Anaheim fire rescue engine struck an SUV at an intersection with Smack Lane after 1 am as it was heading south on Euclidean Avenue to Katella Avenue.
According to Caringer, the fire engine was responding to medical assistance. In situations like crashes, fire trucks usually notify the crash and another crew member is sent to the service call.
Drugs and alcohol did not immediately appear to have been involved in the crash, according to Caringer, but the crash was still under investigation.
