Park City, Kansas (AP) —Federal prosecutors say two companies in Kansas must pay a total of nearly $ 150,000 in fines and compensation for using illegal software.
The US Department of Justice announced on Friday that Newton’s Lightning Aerospace and Park City’s Fly Manufacturing used an unlicensed version of the design program commonly used in manufacturing and engineering.
Both companies have previously pleaded guilty to avoiding protected copyrighted works.
The two companies used unlicensed software to design and test aircraft parts, but prosecutors said this could have a significant impact on their customers. The ministry said companies have tricked software companies into giving them an unfair economic advantage over their competitors.
