2 Pendleton Roundup bull riders severely injured, 1 dead in I-84 crash – Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — Richard Schleicher, a Pendleton Roundup bull rider, died in a car accident with a commercial vehicle in eastern Oregon Thursday night, police said.

Schleicher, 24, in Stockton, Oregon, was traveling with two other rodeo athletes at Volkswagen Jetta at I-84 in Umatilla County. At around 8:15 pm, the sedan collided behind a truck carrying potatoes. Oregon Police.

Other Jetta passengers—Jate Frost, 20 in Randlett, Utah and Jesse Hopper, 21, in Magnum, Okra—were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital, OSP said.

Frost was taken by life flight to the Cadrec Medical Center in Richland, Washington, and Hopper was taken to the Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland.

According to police, truck driver Eddie Berto Ramirez Carrillo, 31, of the ore Hermiston, was not injured.
