Bodega Bay, Calif. (AP) — Two women died Saturday after a car plunged into a sea cliff in Northern California and landed about 70 feet on a rock below.
Captain Justin Fox of the Bodega Bay Fire Defense District said dozens of people visiting a scenic oversight near the Bodega Bay head trail witnessed a Toyota SUV landing on a roof down a cliff.
By the time the firefighters and lieutenants got into the car, the woman inside was dead, he said. Their names have not been published.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. California Highway Patrol Officer David Deltte said investigators would investigate several factors, including autopsy results, vehicles, and witness statements.
