20 more deaths, 81 new hospitalizations, biggest jump in 4 months – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) —Kansas health officials say another 20 Kansas deaths have been associated with COVID-19 in the last two days. This is the largest increase in deaths since early March. The state’s death toll is 5,218.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has also reported 81 new hospitalizations since Monday. This is the largest surge in hospitalization in the state since February. KDHE does not track recovery.

Since Monday, 1,541 Kansas have been positive for coronavirus and 3,529 have been negative, according to KDHE.

Since Monday, an additional 154 Kansas have been diagnosed with COVID-19 delta variants, bringing the total number of delta variant cases in the state to 1,104. (See the county information in the graph below.)

Kansas continues to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Since Monday, 3,269 Kansas have received the first COVID-19 vaccine and 1,889 have received the second.

KDHE reports that 47.61% of eligible Kansas have completed vaccination.
