Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY) — A 20-year-old man faces several charges after a car accident overnight on Shore Drive, Virginia Beach.
Police said police were called for a crash on Saturday at around 12:40 am for a pedestrian who collided with a vehicle at 2900 blocks on Shore Drive.
Witnesses initially told police that the suspect’s vehicle had left the scene.
When police arrived, they found a seriously injured man who was later sent to a local hospital.

While on the scene, witnesses were able to point out the suspect’s driver, who was “standing close to the crowd,” gathered around the scene, according to a press release.
Police officers were able to detain a suspect who was later identified as 20-year-old Reece Christian Sheppard. The suspect’s car was parked in a nearby parking lot.
Shepherd faces multiple accusations, including:
- BAC (blood alcohol concentration) is high, and minor drunk driving in the car
- Disability due to drunk driving
- Underage drinking
- Contribute to the misconduct of minors
Shepherd is currently being held at Virginia Beach City Prison. The crash is still under investigation.
