Don’t assume that only Hallmark movie Binge Watching will take place in December, as many Corpus Christi events have changed to take into account social distance and other COVID-19 precautions.

Visit of Santa Claus in La Palmera
what: La Palmera offers two options for a visit with Santa in 2020. For a direct visit on the center court, there is a life-sized plexiglass holiday photo frame that separates Santa from his guests and is incorporated into the photo. Guests also have the option of booking a virtual online visit with Santa. This includes recorded souvenirs of calls. All Santa’s visits are by appointment. This year, La Palmera will not host a separate pet night event, but visitors can schedule pet visits (dogs and cats only) via the online booking system during available hours. All pets must be strapped or kept in a carrier.
When: From November 20th to December 24th. Face-to-face visits are Monday to Thursday from noon to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Virtual visits are Monday through Thursday 8 am-11am and Sunday 6:30 pm-8:30pm.

The 11th Christmas Tree Forest: The Wonderland of Reading
what: Celebrate the Christmas season with this annual tradition by joining the South Texas Museum of Art, HEB, and Corpus Christi Junior League. Thirty school groups read award-winning classic childhood books, created relevant decorations, and trimmed trees accordingly. After the exhibition, all trees will be donated to families who need to enjoy the rest of the holiday season. COVID-19 Social distance is set and a mask is required.
When: Open from November 21st to December 16th. Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5pm, Sunday 1 pm-5pm.

cost: With generous underwriting from Kleberg Bank, anyone is free to enter until November 30th. Starting in December, A & M-CC students with AMST members and IDs will be admitted free of charge. $ 8 for adults, $ 6 for seniors (65+) and military, $ 4 for students with valid IDs, free for children under 12 years old.

Holly Days at South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center
what: At South Texas Botanical Gardens, Holly Days at the Gardens offers plenty of seasonal outdoor activities on Friday nights and Saturday to night. Guests featuring the large illuminated Fraser fir will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa and the resident macaws (reservations required) and turtles. This year’s new work is the Hay and Petting Zoo. Guests can also enjoy Kids Craft, Story Time, Carol Singing, Evening S’more and Hot Cocoa. Check the website for activity schedules.
When: Friday nights and Saturdays from November 27th to December 19th. Friday time is from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturday time is from 9 am to 7:30 pm.

Christmas at a dog park with the Gulf Humane Society
what: The Gulf Coast Humane Society invites the community in November and December to enjoy the beautiful 3-acre dog park, which has become a winter wonderland for you and your puppies. They added more lights, more events, and extra days of festivals every weekend. Enjoy movies, hot cocoa, raffle and more.
When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 27th to December 20th from 6pm to 9pm. From Monday, December 21st to Thursday, December 24th, every day from 6pm to 9pm

Christmas on the beach at Rockport Beach
what: Visit this drive-through light display on Rockport Beach to enjoy the cheers of the holidays and stay safe and healthy in the car. 16 organizations participated to create a festive display. When driving to the circle on the beach, stop by the Christmas on the Beach Welcome Center. Here, volunteers hand out treats donated by Copano Bay RV Resort.

Harbor Playhouse Announces “Christmas Carols”
what: Harbor Playhouse introduces the beloved classic “Christmas carols” for the 2020 holiday season. Aurora Arts Theater presents a winter mini camp for kids
what: Aurora Arts Theater hosts winter mini camps for children. Campers aged 7 to 14 spend three days learning the various elements of theater, stimulating their imagination and awakening the theater genius of everyone who participates. Interactive learning helps campers develop the skills they need to build the confidence they need to nail their next audition, play, or class presentation. 3 sessions available with 20 campers per session.
When: Session I is November 23-25. Session II is from December 21st to 23rd. Session III is from December 28th to 30th. Business hours are 9 AM to 3 PM and will be extended to 5:30 PM for an additional fee.

Annual Joe Salem Thanksgiving Supper
what: The late Joe Salem’s family invites the community to attend the annual Joe Salem Thanksgiving dinner, drive-through style. Cars can be lined up in the Sokol parking lot from 11:00 am. The service will start around noon after the call and will continue until all meals are exhausted. Guests are asked to wear masks, stay in the car and volunteers to load food into the car. Meals will be provided according to the number of passengers. You must be present to receive the dishes. Those who wish to volunteer must contact the event staff and arrive at 10:30 am with an apron and mask.

Vishal Raju Bhagat Foundation Thanksgiving meal gift
what: The Vishal Raju Bhagat Foundation will present a Thanksgiving meal gift on Thursday. When the annual golf tournament had to be postponed until 2021, the Foundation wanted to continue donating to the community. By that mission, 500 meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis with drive-through pickups. Meals include turkey and dressing, glossy ham, sweet potato brawl, green bean casserole, hot rolls, and pumpkin pie. The Vishal Raju Bhagat Foundation continues his mission to celebrate Vishal Bhagat’s life and fight juvenile diabetes.
