2021 Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate to be announced at local ‘ImmortALL’ teen poetry project finale – Virginia Beach, Virginia

Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY) — Teens on Hampton Road show their talent at the finale of the ImmortALL: A Performance Poetry Project.

The event will be streamed live on April 17th at 6 pm from Schola at the Renaissance Academy on Teens With a Purpose (TWP). YouTube And Facebook account!

The program invites teens to learn about the history of local African Americans while learning the art of lively performance poetry.

During the event, authorities will also announce the 2021 Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate. Teens With a Purpose has accepted submissions from young poets, rappers, leaders and activists aged 14-19 from all of Hampton Roads who are interested in representing the area as a young poet laureate in Hampton Roads. ..

Through the ImmortALL program, performance poetry and modern social change met oral history and the civil rights movement. Virginia Beach teens aged 13-19 connected with Princess Uncountry Training School / Union Kempsville High School graduates and Friends Association graduates, as well as TWP professional poets. At the final performance, teens will showcase a reinterpretation of local oral history through a lens of their experience of current events.
