Fairways, Kansas (KCTV) – Many people still spend a lot of time at home, and design experts say that different uses of space have a significant impact on how homes are decorated.

Here are some of the trends that Southern Living friends are predicting.

First, open floor plans … well, let’s call them “less open floor plans”.

“When I had two parents and three kids trying to go to school from home, the open floor plan seemed like a really good idea, but suddenly things look a bit crazy. We plan to return to traditional floor plans with separate rooms, but the open floor plans will not go away altogether, “said Betsy Cribb, feature editor for Southern Living magazine.

The open look never disappears altogether. People use sliding doors in the barn and movable bookshelves to divide the space. Next, let’s talk about color. We expect to see more naturally inspired shades in the coming months.

“Beige is boring, but here it gives you the right amount of warmth and comfort, and the Zen sensation you want when you’re at home. It’s especially effective when combined with other neutrals such as white and black. That’s because it gives you the really great warmth you need when you always want to stay at home, “says Crib.

When it comes to furniture, we take inspiration from the texture of what we wear (sweat and comfortable clothes) and transform it into a sofa.

“Consider Mouton’s ottoman, mohair and velvet sofas. All the soft and luxurious fabrics will make you feel comfortable right away, and will generally return to traditional style. In a year of great change and few familiar things, people want something that feels like home. Go mom, it feels like going to grandma’s home, so classic prints Think of a simple furniture silhouette, and something like a velvet sofa you grew up in, “says Crib.

Another trend to try is outdoor pergolas. The only thing better than staying in your cozy home is to go out on a beautiful day. Pergolas can provide shade all day long and can be built relatively cheaply without it.
