Las Vegas (FOX5)-A 26-year-old man died in a crash in northwestern Las Vegas Valley early Tuesday morning.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred on July 20 at 12:48 am on North Durango Drive near Gowan Road, north of Majestic Valley Avenue. LVMPD said the 2004 Toyota Rav4 was moving the Durango to the south, as the 2019 Toyota Camry was moving the Durango to the north. The Camry hit the median strip, eventually turning left at Gowan, then back into the lane, into the southbound lane, and hit the Rav4.
Police said both vehicles had spun before slipping and stopping. The Camry ignited and the driver couldn’t get off, LVMPD said. Police identify the driver as a 26-year-old man, and the Clark County Coroners Office announces the man’s identity when notified to relatives. The driver’s death marks the 73rd traffic-related death in the metro jurisdiction in 2021.
A 44-year-old man, a Rav4 driver, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The crash is under investigation.
