Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee 2021-06-13 06:00:00 –
Patrick Birdin was 28 years old, who died too early in his South Nashville apartment.
Birdin moved from Jackson to Nashville to spread his wings as a make-up artist and performer.
“He was a young black gay man,” said his mother, Glenda Bond. “And one day I decided to go see his performance, and not only because he was my son, but when I went to see his performance, you had it before It was the best thing because I didn’t know his side. I didn’t know how professional a dancer he was. ”
Burdine has a bright future, and when he was killed, he had only two years in Nashville.
“He had his last performance in Memphis and died nine days later, and that night he died with a performance of about 65 hits from a headhunter who was inviting him from California to New York, Louisiana. They wanted him to come there to play, “Bond said.
Early in the morning of July 28, 2015, the mother received a call that her son was shot the night before at his apartment in the Horizon Park Complex on Packard Drive.
Officers saw Birdin unresponsive when he kicked the door through a sliding glass door. He was found in multiple gunshot wounds.
One of the only clues that night came from a witness who told police he saw a shirtless African-American man in white trousers running from the scene shortly after the shooting.
And although his life was short-lived, Birdin’s mom learned of his influence, especially after his death.
“His friends were like killing themselves without Patrick. You know, the gay world they fight. Acceptance of the world, acceptance of the family. I’m going to commit suicide. I’ve told me many times, and if that didn’t encourage Patrick to continue with him, “Bond said. “I’ve heard from many people many times.”
Now, almost six years later, there was no closure, but Birdin’s mother said her faith had overcome her.
“I did some research and looked up the scriptures about murder and what God thought about it, and it scared me,” Bond said. “He doesn’t kindly consider someone’s blood being poured into his soil, and there are many consequences associated with it, so they stand and stand with someone who is far greater than anyone else and theirs. I almost feel sorry for them because I have to face the consequences It walked this earth. ”
She holds the same faith, hoping that someone with the information will provide information about Birdin’s death.
“It will bring me great comfort to know that, as human beings, they are obedient, can listen to God, and come to tell the truth,” Bond said. “I know your consciousness will finally be free. I already know that that person may come to a new man or new woman to say you know. Can’t carry. Must be told, this is someone’s child. ”
Metro police told News 2 that even if the murder was in their cold case unit, they were always looking for a lead to avoid the case completely catching a cold.
Anyone with information about Burdine’s murder will be asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME. The tips remain anonymous and can lead to a $ 1,000 cash reward.
