Sacramento (CBS13) — Police said three separate groups of protesters were taken to downtown Sacramento streets on Saturday and several people were arrested.
A total of three people were arrested on charges of weapons violations, according to Sacramento police. Four police officers were also slightly injured and the police car was damaged.
Following the presidential election, pro-Trump and anti-Trump demonstrators repeatedly clashed at the California State Capitol.
Sacramento police announced the arrest shortly after 1:45 pm, saying that things were being thrown to police officers. Police continued to march downtown, urging the roads to close until they disbanded shortly before 3 pm, police said.
Bee reported that the protesters had dispersed from the area around 3 pm.
According to police, a third group of Sikh community members in East Sacramento was also protesting in the city in support of farmers’ rights.
The group blocked traffic to West Sacramento at the division of Highway 50-Interstate 5. The West Sacramento police station warned residents to avoid the Tower Bridge area as protesters were demonstrating near Tower Bridge and Capitol Mall.
