Shrewsbury, Missouri (KMOV.com) – Three people were rescued from a Shrewsbury tunnel on Wednesday morning.
Asst. Brian Seitz, chief of the Kirkwood Fire Department, said the Shrewsbury Fire Department received a call at around 9:35 am requesting a report of a person trapped in Carlane. Sean Hadley of the Metropolitan Sewerage District (MSD) told News 4 that a crane had been unloaded into a sewer tunnel, with several people anchored inside.
Zaitz described the tunnel as “a large concrete pipe used for flood control in MSD.” Less than an hour after the incident was first reported, all three were rescued from the tunnel. One of the rescued people was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
