30-somethings hanging on at US swim trials – Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha, Nebraska (AP) — Amanda Weir cannot say the word “retirement”.

She is still in the pool at the age of 35 and is still struggling with her half-aged children — if so. Swimming has always been a sport for young people, but Weir has a lot of friends in clubs over the age of 30.

Thirteen such athletes are participating in the US Olympic Swimming Trial in Omaha, Nebraska. Among them is Anthony Ervin, a 40-year-old gold medalist.

Preparing for the Olympic swimming trial

Irvine knows that he can move the team away, but others have more hope.

Nathan Adrian of 32 is aiming to compete in another Olympic Games in Tokyo. Ryan Lochte also thinks he can form a team.
