Forty-three clinics across the United States have not had an abortion since the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade case last month. According to a new analysis from the Guttmacher Institute.
Analysis shows that there are no more abortion clinics in the seven states. According to the Guttmacher Institute, 23 clinics had previously had an abortion in Texas. That number is currently zero. There are no abortion clinics in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, or South Dakota.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, more than 80,000 abortions were reported in 2020 in these seven states.
The four states say clinics continue to carry out abortions by outlawing abortions after six weeks. The number of abortion clinics in Ohio and South Carolina has not changed. Since the ruling, Georgia has reduced one clinic and Tennessee has reduced the number of abortion clinics from seven to three.
The Guttmacher Institute expects more clinics to stop abortion as the legal battle over the right to access abortion continues.
