5 Great Jobs for College Students

If you’re a senior in high school, by now, you’re probably familiar with all the clichés about “broke college students.” You’ve probably heard the one about college students living on a steady diet of fast food and ramen noodles. While you might enjoy your fair share of both while pursuing your education, wouldn’t it be nice to earn some money so you can pamper yourself from time to time?

One of the challenges for college students is they don’t have a lot of time on their hands (at least, most serious ones don’t), making it hard to find a job with the little time they have away from classes, studying, socializing, and sleeping. Indeed, it’s a struggle, but we’ve got a list of some jobs that are ideal for college students. That’s right, you can have gainful employment and a successful college career. Continue reading to learn about five jobs that are great for college students.

1. You can meet many interesting people and have a lot of fun working at a call center.

If you’re a people person and have great communication skills, you’ll probably enjoy working in a call center. One of the great things about working at an inbound contact center is you’ll get to meet some interesting people, and many of them will be in your age group or possibly even classmates. Plus, you’ll learn a lot about providing great customer service and how to attract potential customers, and those skills will serve you well if you plan to go into the world of business.

2. Put your social media skills to use as a brand ambassador.

As a high school student, you’re probably social media savvy. Have you ever thought about putting your skills to use to earn yourself some extra coins? You could serve as a brand ambassador, giving you the chance to connect with brands’ customers via social networks. You’ll also post content to spread brand awareness, interact with followers, and even provide customer service when needed. And the best thing is you get paid for being on social media all day.

3. Go for an entry-level position in your field of study.

You might not be qualified to work your dream job, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work close to your dream job. If you speak to your college counselor, they might be able to help you find a part-time, entry-level job in your field of study. If you don’t have an admissions counselor, Google “counselor college” and research your options to find a college counselor who can help you with everything from your admissions application for your dream school to finding work-based learning opportunities.

4. Here’s a tip: Good servers make great tips.

If you like working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with perfect strangers, you’ll enjoy being a server. Servers in high-end restaurants often earn as much money in tips as people working full-time hourly jobs!

5. Walk your neighbors’ dogs.

Finally, if you plan to go to college in your city and live at home while you study, you shouldn’t have to go far for a job. Something simple like dog-walking will put extra cash in your pockets and give you plenty of time to study. Otherwise, take advantage of being at home for a few more years.

As you can see, there are many ways to make money while working toward your college degree, and many of them are fun and prepare you for your career in some way. While it’s understandable to want to earn an income while in school, remember to keep getting your education as your top priority. There may be some ramen noodle nights in your future, but it will all be worth it when you’re holding your degree. But at least now you know about some fun and beneficial jobs you can work to hold you over until you’re a college graduate working your dream job.
