Eastbound I-70 reopens at Silverthorn after being closed due to wildfire
Eastbound I-70 is reopening after being closed at the Silverthorne exit due to a wildfire just south of the Interstate.
According to the Colorado Patrol, the fire, now known as the Straight Creek Fire, is near Milepoint 205, between the Silverthorne exit and the Eisenhower / Johnson Memorial Tunnel.
The fire is estimated to be 10 to 15 acres. Burning in the straight creek area between Tenderfoot Mountain and the interstate highway about two miles east of Dillon.
More resources will arrive at the scene on Friday. The CSP advised drivers to plan delays and possible alternative routes if fire behavior recovers.
Some evacuation ordered as the Platte River fire grows in Jefferson County
A wildfire broke out in the Ramonagarch area of Jefferson County as firefighters worked to contain the flames on Thursday afternoon, causing evacuation.
