Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) – So far this year, metro police have confiscated six guns found in metro schools.
Guns carried by boys through school halls are a concern among parents currently on the edge, given this potentially deadly trend.
It’s a scary idea for parents like Mattie Hill, who has four children at Hillwood High School.
“I’m scared because my kids are there,” Hill said. “Some of them don’t want to go to school because they are afraid to go.”
During a random search by Hillwood High School officials, a resource officer found a 9mm pistol loaded with eight bullets in a 17-year-old backpack.
The incident warns parents like Hill, who are worried that their students may have guns from their parents. Hill says the increase in incidents related to boys and deadly weapons is a growing concern she is talking to her children.

So far this year, six guns have been found on the premises of the Metro School, according to Metro Police. Campbell has two children who go to Pearlcorn and says the problem starts at home.

Campbell says there is a solution to this problem. One solution can be found in the church of Mount Carmel. It offers free gun drop-offs to those who are trying to bring in weapons. The program is affiliated with Metropolis.
