KOB 4 talked to a neighbor who heard the turmoil but said he didn’t actually see anything but the arrested.
Wayne Layton appeared in court on Friday. He stays behind the bar until a hearing with a district court judge.
The state is seeking pretrial detention.
According to court documents, Layton approached a group of children fighting play and tried to stop them.
According to criminal accusations, he and his wife spoke of “white supremacism,” and the children shouted “Black Lives Matter.”
Court documents claim that things changed physically when the children insulted Layton’s wife.
Apparently the battle was recorded.
Police officers watched a video of Layton approaching one of the sitting children, grabbing his neck and pushing it to the ground.
“Two children in combat were sent to the hospital because Layton hit and hit his chest with his elbow,” police said.
The complaint does not specify the age of the child.
KOB 4 knocked on Layton’s door on Friday and tried to find out more about what happened. No one answered.
Layton faces crimes such as batteries, child abuse and assault
