Fresno, Calif. (KFSN)-Early Wednesday morning, a seven-year-old child died on suspicion of arson in central Fresno.

Authorities have now begun investigating the murder case.

The flame broke out at N. College and Mackenzie’s house just before 4:30 am on Wednesday morning.

When the people in the house noticed, they hurried away.

A teenager broke his leg as he jumped out of a window on the second floor and is now in the hospital.

A seven-year-old child, Isaac Vallejo, could not escape.

Fresno police chief Paco Valderrama said the fire was a deliberate act on Wednesday afternoon.

He said certain accelerators were used on the front and back doors of the house.

“A horrifying act … they succeeded in killing at least one child,” he said.

Just days before the deadly fire, police officers responded to ammunition fired at the same house. No arrests have been made in that case.

The Red Cross supports the families of refugees.
