Greenville County, South Carolina (WSPA) – According to the company’s founder and CEO Paul Nichols, the 9/11 Memorial of Upstate Granite Solutions was destroyed on Saturday night.

The company has created replicas of the north and south towers to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

A ray of light was set up in the center of the two granite towers, surrounded by the American flag.

According to Nichols, someone sprayed the word Taliban on one of the monument’s bases and towers.

“We spent time and money on this monument, uniting the community, remembering those who died in the attack 20 years ago, and the first responders who were willing to give their lives to serve others. I gathered my memories, “Nichols said.

Employees were able to get rid of the spray paint on Sunday morning.

The company submitted a police report to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
