8:15 am-Flight 175 takes off from Boston to Los Angeles. There are 9 crew members, 51 passengers, and 5 hijackers on board.
8:19 am-Flight 11 crew warns ground personnel that a hijacking is in progress. Not long ago, one of the hijackers stabbed a passenger, Daniel Lewin, who was sitting in front of him. Authorities speculate that Lewin may have tried to stop the hijacker and was likely the first victim of the attack.

8:20 AM-American Airlines Flight 77 on its way to Los Angeles takes off from Washington, DC. There are 6 crew members, 53 passengers and 5 hijackers on board.
8:24 am-When trying to communicate with a passenger, the hijacker contacts air traffic control and unknowingly warns the controller of the attack.
8:37 am-Boston’s air traffic control warns the military. Massachusetts Air National Guard jets have been mobilized to track 11 flights.
At 8:42 am, United Airlines Flight 93 to San Francisco will take off late at Newark. There are 7 crew members, 33 passengers, and 4 hijackers on board.
8:46 am-Flight 11 crashes from the 93rd floor to the 99th floor of the North Tower.
8:50 am-Warning President George W. Bush. His adviser believes this is a tragic accident.
8:55 am-South Tower has been declared safe.
8:59 am-Police from the Port Authority ordered the evacuation of both towers. After one minute, the order will be expanded throughout the World Trade Center complex.
Flight attendants on Flight 9 am-175 warn air traffic control that a hijacking is in progress.
9:03 am-Flight 175 crashes from the 77th floor to the 85th floor of the South Tower.

9: 05-77 Passenger Barbara Olson calls her husband, US Secretary of State Theodore Olson, to warn other federal authorities about the hijacking.
9:36 am-Secret Service agents evacuate Vice President Dick Cheney to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center under the White House.
9:37 am-American Airlines flight 77 crashes into the Department of Defense. The crash and fire killed 59 people on the plane and 125 on the ground.
