Kansas City, Missouri (WDAF) — On time, on schedule, on budget.Person concerned with Build-KCI proudly repeated these themes Touring a single terminal airport under construction at Kansas International Airport.
Justin Meyer of the KC Aviation Division said: ..
The design and development team provided a behind-the-scenes tour of the project’s progress at a midpoint of $ 1.5 billion.
The crew will begin construction in 2019 and the new terminal will open in March 2023.
“39 gates will be opened, which will grow at this facility as it is more than the existing Terminals B and C today,” Meyer said.
The new parking lot is 7 stories high and can accommodate more than 6,000 cars.
The front-facing Concourse A, also known as the headhouse, is 700 feet long and offers large, wide open views.
“This is the front door to Kansas City. It welcomes all passengers departing here,” said Jade Lisca of the KC Civil Aviation Bureau.
Concourses A and B are connected by a 630-foot connector with a moving walkway in each direction.
Authorities say 18-lane security should also speed things up.
Another big upgrade: bathroom after security check.
“This facility more than doubles the number of toilet fixtures and toilet fixtures that go beyond security,” says Meyer. “So when this terminal opens, the days of waiting for the toilet in the gate area are over.”
