Boston (WHDH) -After being born under £ 2, Norfolk’s baby is finally home after almost a year of hospitalization.
Charlotte Cohen was born in June 2020, about 27 weeks early. She weighed only 1 pound and 9 ounces.
She came to Franciscan Children’s Hospital to start lung treatment in November.
“She has a lot of people praying for her not only locally but all over the world and we are very grateful,” her mother said.
The nurse wore a ventilator to help Charlotte breathe.
“I didn’t know if she could get out of the exhaust,” the mother said. “We didn’t know what life would look like.”
Her parents said she didn’t know what her future would be, but Charlotte said she did things according to her own calendar.
“At first, I was told that I might be able to get home in February, but my lungs may get better,” the mother said. “She wasn’t ready yet.”
Charlotte’s father lost his job because he spent so much time in the hospital. But for the past seven months, the family has remained tightly bound and strong.
They say they are very grateful to everyone who took care of Charlotte last year.
“It’s unbelievable. We are now the biggest supporters of the Franciscans and we are very proud that Charlotte will be a great success story.
