A poem of thanks from Nebraska

When asked to be grateful
Thank my friends,
For the Nebraska palette
Sunset for my family,
Still alive, thank God,
Thanks to Med Center (UNMC)
Who suppressed this flood
(So far)
Despite the best of my elected representatives
Negligence, thank you
For my Hawaiian print face mask, for this
Red sofa to commute,
Thank you
UNMC, working in junior high school,
Local highway packing factory,
Harley Dealer of Sand Hills,
That means I’m grateful,
Terrifyingly
The luck of this landing,
For bullets
It hits next to me,
Sense of guilt
Walk with me
In the silence of this wide sky
Follow all steps.
