Sarah Jane Vegas is a survivor of sex trafficking and has been working for nine years to pay attention to this crime.

A victim of sexual trafficking 13 years ago, she was able to escape from trafficking, which is why she is passionate about it.
One of the common misconceptions about sexual trafficking is that victims are constantly being kidnapped and sexually enslaved by strangers.
She said the victims were usually cared for and manipulated by those they knew or with whom they had relationships.
“People have the idea that traffickers will come to Wal-Mart and kidnap your kids. That’s not what they’re doing, and now it’s 24 hours a year on social media for your kids. It can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
She said they hadn’t kidnapped her from day one, and it took months of manipulation before they took her to another country and locked her in the house.
After surviving sex trafficking, Vegas made her mission to defend and rescue those in her former position.
She founded a non-profit organization called Stand 4 Justice, which works to free victims trapped in trafficking situations.
“I want the victims to know that they are not alone. There is hope. I want the victims to know that there is a community behind them that we see and believe in their stories. “Vegas said.
