According to Long Beach police, a man was stabbed on a shoreline drive near downtown Pike Outlet on Sunday night, and another man was robbed.

According to LBPD spokesman Brandon Fahey, the crime occurred around 8 pm. When the police arrived, they found a man whose upper body was stabbed. His wounds were not life-threatening, Fahey said.

The victim told police that another man had approached him, resulting in an escalated debate over violence, Fahei said.

Fahei said security guards at a nearby construction site tried to disperse the case, and the suspect also tried to stab the guards but failed. However, police said the suspect was able to steal the guard’s cell phone.

Victims who suffered puncture wounds refused to be treated on-site, Fahei said.

According to LBPD, the suspect fled on foot before police arrived. Investigation is ongoing.
