Ming-Chi Kuo, top analyst at TFI Asset Management, said in a note to investors on Friday that Apple’s computerized glasses are as powerful as Mac computers and will be available at the end of 2022.
Kuo has an excellent track record in predicting the future Apple Thanks to his research throughout Apple’s supply chain, the product has been launched. Kuo said his immense processing power makes his glasses stand out from the competition because he can perform intensive tasks without having to connect to a smartphone or computer. Earlier reports have shown that the glasses need to be connected to the iPhone for them to work.
The latest report may be due to Apple’s development of its own processor for Mac computers. These chips, which Apple calls the M1, perform well. Intel A processor previously used by Apple while significantly maintaining battery life.
This fall, Apple released the latest and most powerful versions of the M1 processor, the M1 Pro and M1 Max, on the new MacBook Pro. Apple’s glasses will also use an M1-based processor, Kuo said.
Still, Kuo said Apple positions glasses as an iPhone accessory rather than an iPhone replacement. That would work well for Apple’s strategy of selling wearable accessories such as AirPods and Apple Watch in tandem with the company’s flagship iPhone.
Apple’s glasses are said to utilize augmented reality, a technology that overlays digital images on top of the real world. The company has been supporting the augmented reality of the iPhone for several years, but computerized glasses have the potential to open up further uses for this technology.
Apple stocks fell more than 2% on Friday as market sales expanded.
