Fresno, California 2021-08-26 02:27:05 –
The Grizzlies were set up to play the team in Reno, but instead stay home and play at the Corrigian Stadium.
Coaches and managers are keeping the safety of both players and fans in mind, and following the shooting in the parking lot last week, they are announcing new security measures in and around the stadium.
In a social media post, Central Unified officials say the new safety protocol they are implementing is visible from the moment guests arrive at the stadium.
This additional security comes only a few days after the shooting in the parking lot outside the Corrigian Stadium last Friday.
When the shooting happened, fans were beginning to filter following the Central and Bullard High match.
A 19-year-old man was found suffering from several gunshot wounds, and the 19-year-old suspect was later arrested for attempted murder.
No other injuries were injured, and investigators believe the victims were specifically targeted.
Central officials say they have added security measures at the entrance to the stadium to prevent another incident and keep everyone safe.
Within the facility, the level of staff to monitor and assist guests as needed is also increasing.
When guests leave the Corridian Stadium, they are also adding personnel to the parking lot.
Central Unified officials say they are in close contact with Fresno police to ensure the safety of everyone.
Capacity is limited to players and cheerleader families and students attending Central East, Central High and Justingalza High School.
Tickets are not sold in the game and can only be purchased at three high schools on Thursday and Friday.
