Air Force Academy – Most of the cadets currently attending Air Force Academy are not yet born and are not old enough to recall what happened on September 11, 2001. Some cadets were not even born on the day of the attack.

“People were a little surprised at this, like ah, when they heard that my birthday was 9/11, and they remembered another event other than my birthday. You can see it, “said Cadet Second Class Kaigil.

Many say it still affects their lives through the memories and stories inherited from those who lived through it.

“We grew up in New York and we’ve always heard about it. When we go to the airport we see that it’s more secure. What’s that until we hear that story and go to a museum in the city? I don’t know if it’s there, “says C3C Emmaledmond. “And finally I was able to hear my dad, and I knew he was there that day, but it was so painful that he recently wondered what that meant. I just talked to them. ”

Many cadets participated to prevent scenarios like 9/11 from happening again, so their service decisions were affected by the attack.

“The big thing for me is to make them justice,” said C3C Maxback about first responders who took action in the morning of 2001. ”
