Pelham, Alabama (AP) — Flash flood deaths from torrential rains in Alabama have increased to four.

Forecasters say it will rain as much as 13 inches from a slow-moving, front-covered road, trapping people in cars and homes.

All four deaths occurred when water wiped the car. Victims include a 4-year-old girl who died in northeastern Alabama.

according to Associated Press, An 18-year-old woman also died.

AP reported that investigators found the bodies of a man and his girlfriend (both 23) in a car washed away in Birmingham.

AP reported that the worst floods occurred in Pelham, 82 people were rescued from their homes and more than 15 were rescued from their vehicles.

AP reported that more than 100 rescuers and 16 boats were involved in the effort.

Flood warnings remain in effect in parts of Metro Birmingham on Thursday, with flood warnings issued in most states.

Three feet of water filled the Pigley Wigley grocery store near the Florida Line, and 250,000 gallons of wastewater spilled from the Baldwin County sewer.
