Garcia hit a no-hitter in the sixth inning and received a big applause with two outs after the triple of Kike Hernandez. It was an impressive bounceback performance for the 24-year-old who started Game 2 with discomfort in his right knee, gave up the Grand Slam in the first and left without an out in the second.
Alvarez was shy about the Astros reaching the World Series, so he continued his scorching streak a year after surgery on both knees and watching at home. The extra-base hitter hit four hits, including triples and doubles. He led the game 5 victory with 3 RBIs and 3 RBIs.
Catcher Martin Maldonado played defensively with a double play of strikeouts and throwouts, with Houston finishing seventh with 2-0.
This is 72-year-old Baker’s second trip to Fall Classic as a manager and the first trip since he led the San Francisco Giants to the NL Pennant in 2002. As a player, he traveled with the Dodgers three times and won everything. 1981.

Backed by a young pitcher, the Astros rediscovered the attack, winning 18-3 in the next two games and winning the World Series. Then their up-and-coming 24-year-old stars Garcia and Alvarez did the rest.
Houston had a chance to add a fourth lead when Bregman was single and another double by Alvarez left him third without an out. But after Nathan Eovaldi resolved the jam, they were empty.
Alvarez tripled without an out for the sixth time to chase Josh Taylor, and Tanner Houck defeated Correa. Tucker then slammed a grounder on first baseman Kyle Schwarber. Kyle Schwarber tagged Correa for an unassisted double play when Alvarez successfully slipped home and reached 2-0.
