All Faiths Food Bank DeSotoFRC Client Services Representative SanJuana’Janie’ Ramirez

Sarasota, Florida (November 29, 2021) – To provide better service to the DeSoto County community, All Faiths Food Bank announces San Juana “Janie” Ramirez as the new DeSoto Food & Resource Center (FRC) client service representative. I adopted it. In this role, the bilingual Ramirez acts as the primary contact point for all clients and visitors to DeSotoFRC, either directly or by phone. This position is important for all clients to be properly registered in the client database, to be compassionately welcomed, to provide the necessary information and to transfer it to the appropriate staff.

Ramirez has the management and interpersonal skills needed to successfully fill a position, but it is her life experience that fits her perfectly. As a child, between the ages of 6 and 17, Ramirez traveled with his parents, immigrant agricultural workers, to choose the season between Florida, Texas, and Michigan. As the eldest son of eight siblings, she is family-centric and understands the challenge of maximizing resources when money is scarce.

“As you can imagine, I understand the value of diligence and positive attitude. My mother also taught me the importance of giving back,” Ramirez said. “I am proud to be able to help other migrant workers access health and dental care from childhood to adult life by providing transportation and financial support for their appointments. Giving back is important to me and my family. “

In DeSoto County, where agriculture is the dominant industry, the number of people in poverty is almost 22%, well above the national average. With a population of 38,000 and a household income of just over $ 35,400, 29% of households speak languages other than English at home. Food is also distributed there, but the All Faiths Food Bank’s DeSoto FRC is designed to be the epicenter of key resources with wraparound services such as: Benefit support for SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), Medicaid, TANF, Social Security and Disability. Legal aid; Group class; and referrals to other social services services. Free tax preparations were offered this year as well.

“We can ensure that someone with the ability to navigate the social welfare system and defend others by demonstrating empathy, respect, community values and understanding of members can fulfill this position. I felt it was important, “says All Faiths. CEO Sandraf Rank. “In addition to her professional skills and work ethic, Janny lives a life of migrant workers and is not only providing nutritional support, but also compassionate with the people we are working to get out of poverty. We can relate with understanding, so that we can end hunger. “
