Chicago-When record producer Bruce Iglauer founded Alligator Records in 1971, he had no plans to create the world’s largest indie blues label.

“For at least the first decade of the label, I started at $ 2,500, so every record had to pay for the next record, which was ridiculous,” Iglauer said. Stated.

Alligator is now celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new album release featuring a newly mastered track list curated by Egrauer himself.

According to Iglauer, the biggest change in the music industry over the last half century has been the streaming revolution. He said the move to digital presents problems and opportunities.

“The problem is that the cost of streaming is negligible. You need a myriad of streams to make money,” Iglauer said. “The good part of this is alligator music … currently available worldwide.”

The 50th Anniversary Album “Alligator Records: 50 Years of Genuine House Rockin’Music” can be purchased not only on CDs and records, but also on streaming anywhere.
