Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) —According to an arrest warrant, a man who stole an Amazon truck at Music Row while a driver was delivering drives him away to prevent him from being taken by someone else. I told the investigator.

Metro police responded Thursday to reports that a vehicle had been stolen from South 18th Avenue, not far from Grand Avenue.

According to the warrant, Amazon employees told police that they were delivering luggage when a man jumped into a truck and got out of the car.

Police reported that a thief identified as 37-year-old David Smith took a delivery truck to a parking lot on South 21st Avenue, where he abandoned his car and fled.

According to police, surveillance videos showed Smith boarding an Amazon truck and getting out of the car in the parking lot.

When Smith was interrogated, the warrant explained that he saw the truck in the middle of a street with a wide open driver’s door, so he said he moved it to prevent it from being stolen.

Smith was arrested on suspicion of stealing a felony vehicle and put in Metro prison Thursday afternoon. His deposit was set at $ 5,000.

Smith’s reserved photo was not immediately released by law enforcement.
