Amended Sandy Springs zoning code aims to combat problematic party house events | News – Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta, Georgia 2021-06-15 20:59:00 –

Sandy Springs, Georgia (CBS46)-Sandy Springs has approved an amendment to the City’s Zoning Ordinance on Party House Events to reduce growing problems with commercial groups in residential areas.

During the June 15 meeting, the city modified the zoning code to consider the party house event as a temporary use that requires administrative permission. Amendments will continue to limit such parties in residential areas amid an increasing trend of commercial parties in protected neighborhoods.

The following zoning fixes have been added to the code.

  • A party house is defined as a single-family home, single-family home, or multi-family home, including all ancillary structures used to host commercial events.
  • Commercial events include parties, ceremonies, receptions, or similar large gatherings, and you will be charged for the use of your dwelling unit, regardless of whether the event is charged or not.
  • The use of party houses is 150 from properties classified as RE, RD, PK, CON, RU, RT, RM, RX, PR, or properties used for residential purposes measured from the site boundary to the site boundary. It shall be prohibited within feet.
  • It is illegal for a party house event to occur without first obtaining permission for such an event.

For each city, the ordinance comes into effect immediately. For more information on the revised code, please visit the following URL: www.sandyspringsga.gov Alternatively, via the Citizens Response Center (770-730-5600).
