American Airlines flight from NYC to California diverted to Denver, Colorado, after passenger assaults flight attendant – Fresno, California

New York City-Flights from New York to California were forced to make an emergency landing after passengers physically attacked flight attendants on Wednesday.

According to American Airlines, flight 976 from JFK International Airport to John Wayne Airport in Southern California was directed to Denver after the assault.

A photo tweeted by a passenger shows a man arrested sitting inside a terminal at an airport in Denver. He is handcuffed and can be seen wearing a mask.

The airline says he hit a female flight attendant for refusing to wear a mask in the first place.

Passengers say the man had to be duct taped to his seat, and they say alcohol was involved before things became violent.

“I understand that they actually hit her twice,” said one passenger. “Then I saw her walk back down the aisle. She had blood splattered on the outside of the mask.”

“Yeah, I’m lucky I had a doctor on the plane, so I don’t know,” another said. “He said (her nose) wasn’t broken, but she was bleeding, so they took her to the hospital.”

The plane landed safely and was taxied to the gate. There, law enforcement agencies took the passenger away and detained him. It eventually followed California, where it landed safely at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.

“I’m resentful at reporting what happened on board. American Airlines does not tolerate violence against team members. We are working with law enforcement agencies to support team members and pursue prosecution. The individuals involved in this case will not be allowed to travel with us in the future. “

“If you’re not ready to wear a mask, you’re not ready to fly, that’s the lesson of the story,” said Mackenzie Rose, a passenger who tweeted the photo. “It’s absolutely ridiculous when it comes to men hitting women. Violence is by no means the way.”

Assaulting flight attendants is a felony and can result in up to 20 years in prison.

The FAA is also giving out heavy fines this year after a surge in these unruly passenger cases.

Most of them have overcome passengers who refuse to wear face covers.
