Goodlettsville, Tennessee (WSMV)-The Goodlettsville and Nashville Fire Department’s Dangerous Goods team is investigating an ammonia leak at the Tyson plant near Interstate 65.
Due to a large ammonia leak at the facility, the crew was dispatched to the factory at 4:39 am. Buildings have been evacuated and many streets and interstate highways in the area have been closed due to threats.
The Grand Ole RV Resort campsite near the factory is 201 Cartwright st. I evacuated as a precautionary measure. The Goodlettsville Fire Department advised that residents of the factory area should stay indoors and keep all windows and doors closed.
The Nashville Fire Department said no one was taken from the scene by ambulance. One person may have been to the TriStar Skyline Medical Center for treatment, but the injury is unknown.
By 8:30 am, roads in the area had been reopened.
The cause of the leak is under investigation.
