Dr. Amy Millicent Morris is the new Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Amy, a professor of art history, will begin her leadership role on July 1st. The School of Arts consists of art history, writer workshops, theater units and the MFA of the Graduate Writing Program.
“It is a great honor to be the director of an art school. We help students and faculty find opportunities to engage in joint art projects and establish art and art history, theater and writer workshops as destination programs. I’m most excited to do it. Schools continue to be the creative center of UNO. We are the only school in Omaha that is structured into one school with a radius of 400 miles. Omaha has a vibrant arts community with more galleries, museums, theaters and performance venues per capita than any other city in the region. These provide a great background for students to begin their artistic career with rich cultural experience and many opportunities for networking, professional internships, and employment. “
