Sarasota, Florida-The Animal Rescue Coalition (ARC), a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide and promote contraceptive and castration surgery as the key to ending overcrowding and meaningless euthanasia in shelters, has recently been cliniced. We welcomed Keila Murphy as manager and Maggie O. ‘Brian as a program manager.
Murphy has over eight years of management and board positions, bringing ARC a wealth of leadership experience. In her new role as a clinic manager, she manages the clinic’s day-to-day operations and assists the secretary-general and medical director to ensure that the organization achieves its goals and fulfills its mission. Murphy also oversees support staff to ensure that individual duties are complete and to give specific instructions among other duties.
Most recently, Murphy was HealthFit’s outpatient manager at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. During her tenure, she led a team of more than 60 employees, managed a membership base of more than 3,000, and was extremely satisfied with her employees and members.
Murphy holds a master’s degree in kinematics from Georgia Southern University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida.
O’Brien brings over eight years of animal rescue experience to ARC. In her new role as Program Manager, she oversees and directs all activities related to the ARC Program, including Lady Set Rescue, Transport to DeSoto and Charlotte County, Emergency Medical Fund, Stray Cat Program, and ARC Volunteer Program. I will. Under the direction of the Executive Secretary, she carries out procedures and management to ensure responsibilities such as effective provision of services, efficient use of funds and timely tracking of results.
Most recently, O’Brien worked at the Bishop Animal Shelter SPCA in Manatee County, managing a team of 20 employees. During her six-year tenure, she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of all departments within the shelter, including animal intake, adoption, medical care, public relations, volunteering and foster care program supervision.
O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from New College, Florida.
“Both Kayla and Maggie are welcome additions to the ARC team,” said Laura McCann, executive director of the Animal Rescue Coalition. “Each skill and experience greatly enhances ARC’s immense impact on animals, rescue, pet owners, and communities in the Sun Coast area.”
