(WJW) — Additional 2.2 million Economic stimulus check By July 21, recently, more than $ 4 billion worth of items had been issued to Americans.
This brings the total number of payments made to date under the US Rescue Program to over 171 million. Payments launched on March 12 are worth more than $ 400 billion.
We have received payments in the last 6 weeks: According to the IRS:
- About 1.3 million payments, worth about $ 2.6 billion, were sent to eligible individuals who recently filed tax returns, although the IRS did not previously have the information to issue the payments.
- Supplementary payments for those who received payments based on their 2019 tax returns earlier this year but are eligible for new or large payments based on their recently processed 2020 tax returns. Over the last six weeks, more than 900,000 of these additional payments have been made, worth more than $ 1.6 billion. This year, the IRS made more than 9 million of these payments, worth about $ 18.5 billion.
IRS says Continue to pay weekly. Continuing payments will be sent to eligible individuals who have recently filed a tax return and those who are eligible for a plus-up payment, although the IRS did not have the information to issue the payment.
The IRS normally does not file tax returns and continues to require unpaid taxpayers to file their tax returns in 2020 to receive these benefits.
