Another 21 U.S. citizens evacuated from Afghanistan after the Taliban allowed some departures

“We continue to validate our pledges to US citizens, LPRs, and Afghans with whom we have a special commitment,” Blinken said. “If they choose to do so, we will be relentless in helping them leave Afghanistan.”

The State Department has not stated how many Americans remain in Afghanistan. On Tuesday, Blinken estimated that there were still about 100 Americans in the country who wanted to leave, adding that US officials were in contact with all of them.
